Asia Cup

Letter February 27, 2014
I think Afridi should either play solely as bowler or Anwar Ali should replace him as batting all-rounder.

TORONTO: This is with reference to the story titled “Asia Cup: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 12 runs” (February 25). I believe that Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka in the first match of the Asia Cup through the collective efforts of the top order and Shahid Afridi. Also, Umar Akmal should not have thrown his wicket away in the manner he did. However, at the same time, I believe that Misbahul Haq and Umar could have only done so much.

I think Afridi should either play solely as a bowler or Anwar Ali should replace him as a batting all-rounder in the playing eleven. I am still glad that Pakistan fought bravely at the end of their innings and Misbah, Umar and the tail-enders tried their best. I wish the national team the best of luck for the other matches.
