LAHORE:

Representatives of different parties unanimously demanded a decisive operation against militants on Wednesday, saying that the step is necessary for peace in the country.

The resolution was made at an event organised by the Tahafuz Namoos-e-Risalat Mahaz titled the ‘All Parties Conference of Victims of Terrorism’, with participants including Deobandi and Shia groups as well as representatives of the MQM.

In a joint communiqué, the participants said they support the government and military in the war against terrorism and that they would initiate a movement against militants.

Defending the 1973 Constitution, they said it has signatures of scholars from every school of thought.

They denounced the use of guns for the implementation of Sharia law, and said that those attacking mosques, churches as well as security forces cannot be torchbearers of Sharia law.
