KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued guidelines to all commercial banks in order to ensure enhanced efforts and support to the holders of Watan Cards.

In this regard, the SBP issued a circular on Monday, which will be effective immediately. According to the guidelines, in case a Watan Card is captured and disabled by an automated teller machine (ATM), the acquirer branch staff will assist the cardholder and facilitate him in lodging a complaint with the issuing bank for immediate resolution.

Similarly, the acquirer branch will send the captured card along with the complaint lodged by the cardholder on the same day to the nearest branch of the issuer bank.

The nearest issuer branch, after receiving the complaint along with the captured card, will conduct verification and afterwards will return the card within two working days to the complainant.

In case of disabled cards, the acquirer branch will assist the cardholder in contacting the issuer bank for reactivating the card.

According to the circular, branch managers or any senior officer of the acquirer branch, if so required by the cardholder, will assist him and document the subject event.
