Ahmed Shahzad’s mammoth 254-run knock looks to have settled proceedings for HBL against Faisalabad with the hosts conceding a 411-run lead on the third day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.

The hosts were reduced to 113 for three in their second innings after Shehzad hit 26 fours and five sixes, and was also involved in a 371-run second wicket partnership with discarded Pakistan opener Saleem Elahi (137).

Sialkot crushed by WAPDA

The hosts now lead by 294 runs with one wicket in hand after ZTBL managed 235 in their first-innings. Zahid Mansoor hit 119 including 19 fours and a six while the only consolation for ZTBL was Mohammad Khalil who took six for 86 on a day dominated by Rawalpindi.

NBP-Islamabad share honours

The match headed to an exciting last day as Islamabad gained a lead of 240 runs with five wickets to spare against NBP. Islamabad ended at 177 for five, which could have been more, but they were left to rue Ali Sarfraz’s slow knock of 54 off 189 deliveries after NBP were bowled out for 289.

Multan chasing 271 to win

SNGPL took an early wicket to peg Multan back in their pursuit of a 271-run target after they were bowled out for just 198 in their second innings. The day, which saw 16 wickets fall in total, belonged to the bowlers as Multan were skittled out for 286 having added only 60 to their overnight total. Yasir Shah and Adil Raza took four wickets each but the hosts matched their performance as SNGPL were all out for 198 with Ahmed Raza taking seven for 66.
