Blast in Kohat kills 9 people, injures 15 others

Two of the injured are in critical condition.

KOHAT: A blast in Kohat killed at least nine people and injured 15 others, Express News reported on Sunday.

The blast took place in the Peshawar Chowk area near the Police Lines. According to the police, an explosive device was planted at the location.

The wounded were taken to Liaquat Memorial Hospital. Two of them are in critical condition.

Initial details revealed that at least 10 kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the blast.

"So far we can confirm that five people have been killed and 12 others are injured," district police chief Salim Khan Marwat stated earlier today.

Another police official at the site said the bomb exploded near police and other government offices.

Police have cordoned off the area after the incident. Rescue teams and the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the site of the blast.
