Woman seeks case against daughter’s abductors
An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sought comments from the Mozang SHO by March 3 in a petition seeking the registration of a case against two men accused of abducting the petitioner’s daughter by offering to sell her a refrigerator on instalments.
Petitioner Gulnaz Bibi said she had wanted to buy a fridge on instalments but did not know of anyone who dealt with instalments. She said she spoke to Niamat, a neighbour, about the matter and he assured her that he would talk to an instalments dealer.
Gulnaz Bibi said Niamat took her and her daughter to “see the instalments dealer he had told her about” on November 30, 2013. She said when they reached the market, Niamat told her daughter to stay in the rickshaw while she went with him to see the instalments dealer. Gulnaz Bibi said on their way there, Niamat told her to wait for him on the road because he had to buy cigarettes from a shop.
She said Niamat did not return for a long time, after which she went back to the rickshaw but it had also disappeared.
Gulnaz Bibi said she had approached the police but the SHO did not register her complaint.
She requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Niamat and the rickshaw driver for abducting her daughter.
