LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday extended a restraint order on the planned demolition of a portion of Lady Willingdon Hospital till February 24. The court directed representatives of both sides to make their final arguments on the next hearing on a petition against the demolition. A law officer has told the court that the government did not intend to demolish the entire hospital. He said it needed two-and-a-half kanal from the premises to build a flyover to widen the road at Azadi Chowk. The court directed him to submit the project plan showing the land requirement at the next hearing. PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid and Young Doctors’ Association have filed the petitions. Their counsel have said the hospital is a historical building and no part of it could be demolished. They have said the government did not carry out an environment impact survey before starting the construction of the flyover.
