Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed all administrative secretaries of the province to speed up work, and ensure the effective and transparent utilisation of resources on schemes approved under the ongoing Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Chairing a mid-year review meeting of the ADP at the Civil Secretariat with senior government officials in attendance, Khattak cautioned no delay or obstacle would be tolerable in the implementation of development schemes.

The meeting was told 989 projects have been launched under the ADP at a cost of Rs118 billion. These include 378 new and 611 ongoing projects across 31 sectors and departments.

Khattak said the province needs result-oriented efforts and government officials should roll up their sleeves and meet challenges head on.

The CM stated the ADP is an essential instrument for improving governance and social service delivery, reducing poverty and unemployment, and attaining economic and social development. He added the projects that had been delayed for a prolonged time period must be completed by June 30.

“We are short of time and cannot afford to waste our resources,” Khattak added. “The province is lagging behind in the development race and serious efforts are needed to put us on the road to expeditious development and prosperity.”
