After the raving success of Pawnay Chauda August, Sawa Chauda August, Aangan Terha and now Haaf Playt, Anwar Maqsood and his team are all set for a Pawnay Chauda August world tour. This comes as a result of the massive response that the play received all over Pakistan, after shattering records of all previous plays ever performed.
The world tour will kick-start in Dubai and travel to the US, where ten shows will be performed in ten different cities including Chicago, Dallas, Houston and New Jersey, among others. The troupe will also be performing three shows in England and are also in talks for a possible tour of Norway.
Anwar Maqsood, the writer of the play, shared his views on this milestone with The Express Tribune. “At this point in age and career you can’t get a better gift and I must say, this whole bunch of youngsters deserves all the credit for that,” said Maqsood.
Where the cast and crew of the play are thrilled about this upcoming venture, Maqsood is stuck between figuring out Saray Chauda August and the completion of the world tour, as the show in Norway is expected to be sometime in August, which might clash with the production of Saray Chauda August.
“Frankly I am in no position to pick the Norway tour or Saray Chauda August, “smirks Maqsood, “They’ll have my full support in either case”
Saray Chauda August will be the final instalment of Maqsood’s anthology of satirical plays, which are based on historical facts. “I don’t know whether or not it would be funnier than its predecessors, but since Gandhi, Mountbatten and Nehru will be a part of it, it should definitely be interesting,” Maqsood commented.
