LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday once again issued notices to the government and the district administration on a petition challenging the national flag insignia on waste containers and vehicles used by the Lahore Waste Management Company, describing it as a disgrace to the national flag. The court had previously issued a notice to the relevant authorities but no one appeared in court on their behalf on Monday. The petition has been filed by the Judicial Activism Panel that sought directions to remove the national flag insignia from garbage containers and vehicles used by the LWMC. The petitioner said strict action must be taken against the authorities directly or indirectly involved in the disgraceful exercise of displaying the national flag on dirty and filthy places. He requested the court to issue directions for the promulgation of a National Flag Code. The court adjourned the hearing till February 22.
