Qurban Hussain, a resident of Fateh Jang, had allegedly shot himself over a dispute with his wife Saira. They had married three months ago.
Saira told the police she left Hussain and came to live with her parents in Islamabad after the couple developed “differences over some personal issue”. The family was living in a servant quarter in a house in G-10/2.
The family told police that Hussain came to fetch Saira on Saturday but she refused to go back with him. Hussain came back on Sunday and shouted at the family to send Saira outside.
A female in the house opened the door to find an enraged Hussain holding a gun. He shot at her, missing her narrowly. She immediately shut the door on him. The scared family scurried to call the police.
It was then when they heard a second shot. The police arrived to find Hussain lying in his own blood. The bullet had pierced his skull and a gun was lying next to his body.
The investigation officer told The Express Tribune later that the postmortem ruled out murder and they were treating the incident as a suicide case.
