BANNU: A basic health unit’s (BHU) building in Mandev, Bannu was partially destroyed on Sunday when a bomb planted by unidentified militants near the structure went off. No loss of life was reported. According to DSP Sanaullah Khan Marwat, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Miryan police station around 1:30am. The loud bang alerted the police who rushed to the site. However, Marwat complained power outages made it difficult for the police to find site – which the Miryan police did at 3am. Police officials informed the DSP that unidentified militants planted the device near the main gate of the BHU and detonated the bomb using a remote control. The impact brought the boundary wall down and destroyed the gate. “The sound caused panic in the area,” said Marwat. He added four kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bomb and a case has been filed against unidentified militants.
