Four tribesmen were injured in Sheen Kamar, Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them on Saturday.
According to a political administration official, the incident occurred around 10am when the tribesmen, identified as Solat Khan, Khayal Akbar, Muhammad and Zila Noor, were heading to their homes in Sheen Qamar. The official added the unidentified gunmen opened fire at the men when they reached a small mountain, injuring them.
The wounded were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar by a passenger coach which was passing through the area. Two of the tribesmen were said to be in critical condition.
The official added it could not be ascertained whether the assailants were militants or rivals of the injured men.
Meanwhile, a house was blown up by Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) militants in Sheen Darang, Bara tehsil. A political administration official confirmed the incident, saying the LI militants broke into Mateen’s house and planted a bomb inside it.
“The explosion destroyed the house completely,” he said, adding no human loss was reported because no one was home.
The political administration official added Mateen’s brother was an active member of Akka Khel’s pro-government militia and Mateen himself was also associated with the militia which is why the militants targeted his house.
