Philanthropy: Rs 60 million donated to LGH

Dr Vohra says if we describe miseries of poor patients, people would be more forthcoming with donations.

LAHORE: Donations to the Lahore General Hospital have been used to purchase around 10 dialysis machines, install new tubewells, upgrade the neuro-operation theatre, install a new water filtration plant, install an oxygen tank, procure laundry machines and initiate welfare projects for patients and their attendants, Lahore General Hospital Chief Executive Anjum Habib Vohra said on Wednesday. The hospital had received around Rs60 million donations from the Patients Welfare Association during the past year and a half, he said. Dr Vohra said the well equipped air-conditioned dialysis centre at the LGH had become the biggest such centre in public hospitals in the Punjab. He said people who donated generously were the pride of the society. He said each penny donated was being spent with a sense of responsibility. He said, “If we describe the miseries of poor patients, people would be more forthcoming with donations.
