KARACHI: A fresh outburst of violence has claimed four more lives in Karachi today (Sunday). The firings took place in various parts of the city injuring five others.

Some of the areas which witnessed violence include Landhi, Eid Gah, Teen Hati and the Gulsan-e-Iqbal. Security has been beefed up in these areas to avoid any untoward situation.

These killings follow recent rumours that the police have arrested Lyari gangster Baba Ladla for whom the government was offering Rs1 million.

According to a report in The Express Tribune, this year has seen 1,100 violent deaths in Karachi. The only other time killings of this nature reached such numbers was in 1995 during Benazir Bhutto’s second tenure.

Mir | 13 years ago | Reply When politics is done with dead bodies of innocent citizens in Karachi, than these brutal killings will continue to take place. It seems that for some specific political outfits, the number of dead reflects their quantum of power and ability to hold the city ransom to their whims. Not a single relative of any politician has fallen victim in this latest volley of violence. It is blood of the poor that is being offered by those who exploit ethnicity to make billions and kill thousands in the process. A government that fails to protect its citizens has no right to survive, not even for the sake of this subverted form of so called democracy.
RhyMe | 13 years ago | Reply 1,100 deaths only in karachi is certainly not a small figure!!!....maybe equal or little more/less than total number of deaths in bomb blasts in rest of Pakistan this year....correct me if im wrong! im just baffled!!
