ISLAMABAD: There are plans afoot to remove the director-general (DG) of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to address governance and management issues affecting the body. Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) sources said DG Shahnaz Riaz was becoming a hindrance to the smooth functioning of FDE.  Dr Riaz assumed charge as FDE DG in 2001, and was later replaced by a retired army officer. However, she challenged her removal and the Supreme Court reinstated her. The CADD sources said they needed tough decisions to clear the mess at various levels. The sources said that Riaz could be offered a job as joint educational adviser at CADD. Meanwhile, Dr Riaz told The Express Tribune that nobody could remove her. She said that the people who wanted to do so were actually feeling insecure and uneasy working with honest people.
