Sketchy details: Gunmen kill policeman, injure another

Three tribesmen reportedly killed while planting explosives.

DI KHAN: A police constable was killed and a hawaldar was severely injured when unidentified men opened fire at them in Parwa tehsil of DI Khan on Tuesday, shared a police official.

Hawaldar Tanveer and constable Naseer were on routine patrol on their motorcycle in Chamb, Parwa when gunmen sprayed them with bullets. Naseer died on the spot while Tanveer was critically injured.

Police rushed to the site after the incident and launched a search operation, however, no arrests were made till this report was filed. The injured hawaldar was taken to district headquarters hospital and then to teaching hospital.

Meanwhile, three tribesmen were reportedly killed when a bomb they were allegedly  planting accidently went off in Bachabad village of Kulachi tehsil, locals told The Express Tribune.

An official of Kulachi police, however, said no deaths or injuries have been confirmed. “We have registered a case against unidentified nomads who were suspected to be involved in the blast.”

The blast was heard from far and SHO Imran Kundi along with a team of personnel reached the site soon after the incident, only to find blood splattered on the ground but no sign of a body.

SHO Imran Kundi reiterated they have no information of anyone dying or getting injured in the blast. He added they are investigating the matter and will share the number of casualties, if any, later.

According to locals, however, three nomads were killed while another was injured. They said the bodies were taken away by the tribesmen, adding the explosives were planted to target the Gandapur tribe of Kulachi.

The nomadic and Gandapur tribes of Kulachi tehsil have a long standing rivalry which has claimed many lives in the past.
