PESHAWAR: Four people were killed and six others injured in a suicide blast in Peshawar on Monday during a police raid, Express News reported.

The blast took place in the Essa Khan Ghari area of the city after police conducted an operation at a house on a tip off.

The police foiled the plot of suspicious men who were planning on targeting a funeral. On reaching the site an exchange of fire took place between the suspects and the police.

One of the men blew himself up while the operation was taking place.

Jamil Shah, a spokesman for Peshawar's main Lady Reading hospital where all the dead bodies and injured were taken, said that five of the injured were women.

Three of the deceased are reportedly women. According to the police, one of the deceased is the suicide bomber.

Shafqat Malik, chief of Peshawar's Bomb Disposal Unit, confirmed the suicide attack and told AFP that the bomber used around six kilogrammes of explosives along with ball bearings in his suicide vest.

Police cordoned off the area and took two men into custody. The arrested were taken to an undisclosed location.

The Pakistani people should stand-up and expose the national security threats living within their midst. If people keep an eye on suspicious elements and provide tip-offs to law-enforcement agencies, then these miscreants will have no place to hide. Lets show some Pakistani exceptionalism like the american excpetionlism and make this country great.
