LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Sunday said his party would make Pakistan a welfare state if it comes into power.

Talking to a public gathering in a village near Lahore, he said his party will revolutionise the judicial process if it comes into power.

Imran Khan said inflation has skyrocketed and the masses will not put up with it any longer as the present government has ‘broken all records of corruption.’ He said people’s trust in his party was such that his party was able to raise more funds for flood relief as compared to anybody else.

He also vowed that change was imminent, and nobody could stop it.

Pakistan is facing both internal and external threats. Internal threats however are far much worse including corruption, political chaos, economic decline and grinding poverty. Imran can become a Prime Minister and I personally do trust his intention. But how will be cope and tackle the Pakistani military establishment who controls everything and every leader in the country ? Can Imran take on this establishment who live on the country’s resources as parasites and let Imran distribute those resources among the poor ? That’s the challenge. Recommend

    @ El edroos:
there is a parallel Rs 500 billion economy in Pakistan, at least, and it is eaten by the corrupt cartel of generals, industrialists, landlords and also the politicians by evading taxes, selling off land cheaply giving contracts and permits at throwaway prices etc; the list can go on and on and there are 1001 ways of making haraam money.
if the person at the top has 2 qualities of honesty and wisdom, a dream of a welfare state can be achieved and I believe Imran Khan has those qualities.

Well Talha not a big fan of Imran but he is the only one who actually delivered what he promised like a world cup and a cancer hospital. People gave him money an he is the only one who used it for the purpose it was collected for. He has not ran away to London or has illegal stash of cash hidden in banks there. Like mush and others he has a right to talk too. Recommend

Simply a One Man Show. I am prepared even to beg him to take over Chairmanship of our Cricket Board for life time. No doubt he is a sincere man with no known corruption because he never got any chance (became Minister of any department). Perhaps if unfortunately or fortunately he gets any chance to play some leading role in future setup then who will guarantee that he might break all previous records of corruption known in the history of our country??? He in fact got a very good chance during the opening innings of Mr. Musharaf but he failed to avail. Had he accepted that offer, perhaps something very good could have happened for us all. In fact Mr. Musharaf was hijacked by Jacks Of All Trades which again left Mr. Imran khan alone as usual. He must accept the offer of Minister Of Sports with full authority and no interference from any quarter. If we want sports to flourish in our country then only Mr. Imran Khan is fit for this job. Politics is not fruitful for this “Lone Ranger”.Recommend

I don’t doubt intentions of Imran Khan. Even his enemies admit that he is a good person but they think he can’t be successful in politics. I believe that Pakistani people will keep on rejecting him. We, as a nation, are hypocrite who are doing wrong things and crying for justice at the same time!!Recommend

I lement on the wisdom of those who repeatedly argue that “what Imran khan or leaders of his type can do”? Well, then let me put them a question ” What others you have tried in 63 years could do for you, including Benazir”? So, whats wrong trying Imran Khan? Can anyone doubt this honesty? Is Shaukat Khanam is not one of the best Cancer hospitals in Asia and only one in Pakistan? Can anyone ever complained about his management wheather its financial or general regarding hospital? Its a pity that people who vote these days just vote for those who are proven corrupts and thats the reason they ( people) suffer for their choices. Will they ever learn? I have no hopes. If People of Pakistan want change in their lives for better then they must select and elect someone like Imran Khan. He may not be the best vocal in politics and not best political player but at least he is honest and hardworking with determination and self dignity and patriotism. And these things are enogh for me to vote for him. Recommend

Pakistan is already a welfare state with “pan-handlers” of the nation going around the world collecting billions. What is needed is to spent these billions on the needy or multitude and not on Generals or Politicians.Recommend

Unfortunately we need a change in the voting system, since Ziaul Haq many a Governments have been dissolved on charges of corruption, not once have any charges been proved – despite the white papers and black papers, and we still have the same faces running the country (or milking the country); until a system is developed whereby these faces can be changed Khan sahib will have to wait to implement his noble cause.Recommend

Imran Khan will do many great things – he has no vested interest. Wealth and a celebrity fame status have always been with him. So he will root out corruption, true democracy, bring institutional reforms etc. on coming to power.

However, that is if he comes to power. However, until then, he can show how he has created the only democratic party in the country that has a welfare oriented ideology. Recommend

Assumptions, Predictions, forecasting. This guy is WORTH giving a shot. Even all those who don’t like him will agree on this. So lets give him the chance as we have no other hope! Lets let him run the show and test him. A man running the biggest hospital ( I presume) on charity with no audit issues is definitely worth the shot (and thats the least we should do). All i ask is 1 chance!Recommend

Media is right in presenting Imran Khan as a popular politician. Is media right in projecting him as a leader without any sign of a core team of high profile politicians and technocrats around him? Can media teams jointly present ten big names from any walk of life around him as his party colleagues who have ever appeared or who are around or asked to represent him and his party on television? He is always seen alone – A leader without an executive committee seen on screen. YES I admit SKMH is CERTAINLY and BEYOND ANY DOUBT a laudable achievement of Imran Khan but Governance of a country consisting of four provinces in a big mess for being the playground of the Great Game and Greater Middle East is much bigger a task than constructing and running a charitable Hospital by a dedicated team of professionals. It is easy to find a dedicated team of professional for a hospital but what about forming a team of DEDICATED POLITICIANS? Try to seek an answer from the founder of Pakistan’s soul and the meaning of term KHOATAY SIKKAY coined by him!

The political, social and economic mess we are in today is the result of the focus of our media on personalities and artificially created escape goats instead of their performance in and out of power. Media has to qualify or disqualify a personality in every walk of life purely on the merit of his core strategic vision, credentials, credibility of his team and his overall performance in different areas, not in one area alone, before coming into power. We need a politician who has a team of credible experts and resources at his disposal before coming into power to take the country out of mess after coming into power through an Ovearall Core Strategic National Vision of natural and human resource utilization in an appropriate manner.Recommend

I have worked personally as volunteer in Imran Khan’s hospital in 1994, know him from close, know how he takes pain to get the job done. So widely believe he is no doubt the only choice amid all other politicians. He has the leadership qualities to run Pakistan. But I’m disappointed that he might not become the supreme leader of the country through our routine elections process. The only way, he might come at front is through some sort of revolutions, my perceiving.Recommend

I have no doubt him delivering what Pakistan urgently needs at the moment. But I do doubt he will never win even if he get 80% legit votes because the ballots are controlled by corrupt local and federal govt. It has happened before in Punjab and it will happen again. I doubt zardari and co will elt go of the thorne for years to come no matter how public votes. Unless and until Army and Judiacary join hands to remove the menace of corruption, I don’t see any honest politician like Imran Khan in the office.

May God have mercy on Paksitanis!!Recommend

We (the people who support IK) need to make sure that we get him elected. We should not be distracted by the “doubters” as they have an agenda which they share with the current regime & government. These doubters have been the cause and reason for Pakistna’s current state of things. Imran is the only leader with vision, energy & conviction. He achieves his goals by focusiing on the task. The doubters will always & only think about themselevs! Recommend

I am suprised how many people try to make one person look bad and try to put his efforts down. Everyone say he does not got a chance I think everyone should know he got the chance when he was captain of Cricket team and still never done any spot fixing even I know this betting happening from the Waseem Akram period atleast. Imran Khan was definitly the Prime Minister for Mushraf who was looking for a clean person in the start and then got addicted to Power.

Yesterday I was thinking Pakistani Majority of Muslim should start calling themselves Jews part 2 now. They all think they are the Choosen ones and by offering 5 times prayers and money to poor they will get away from the heavy curroption they do everyday. Even one uncle of mine try to prove that bribing for your right work is allowed in Islam. How smart we are to mould the religion according to our own needs and everything will be forgiven for myself but if someone else do it he must be punished and go to hell. :o) I think people can see the similarity b/w Muslim (so called) and Jews now.

I believe only few top people need to be right to make the difference. Muhammad PUB and Quaid-e-Azam single handed achieved what a right leader actually achieve. Success and a team of people who can work with them. Corruption in Politics (which start from the base of every big family) and including the posts of Army is eating away the Pakistan. Every politican have to give others something otherwise they will bite him back. In Case of Imran Khan this is the biggest thing that he does not have to make deals with anyone yet to start a never endinig process of corruption.Recommend

@ Anonymous, I hope you understand that in Rome everyone is expected to live in Rome as the Romans do. Those people who are honest and wise also mostly stay at home and rarely mix up with people because the majority is wiser, smarter and knows the art of living in a “Civilized Society.” What does a civilized society reflect?

Why the religious parties do not succeed in elections because ou majority personally belives in and practices(!) Islam but does not categorically want to see our country Islamized(!). We are honest(!) but we do compromise(!) with dishonesty for the sake of our very survival(!). We dislike (!) corruption but we do not find any way to do business without(!) indulging in corrupt practices. We preach(!) what we do not practice(!). WE ARE IN MAJORITY.

People like you and IK are in MINORITY and will remain in MINORITY.

Do you see any politician of political stature with or around IK? Why? They are not around because they need majority votes to get elected for which Honesty, Integrity, Dedication, Loyalty, Sincerety and Patriotism are needed. AND we as a nation either do not consider these qualities in a politician to vote for him or stay at home on the day of voting.
