Division-level games in the Punjab Youth Festival start on Sunday (today).


The prize money of the games is Rs4,252,950.

The games will continue till February 16 and would feature 23 sectors in 227 competitions.

Baseball, boxing, marathon, power lifting, rugby, squash, touchball and handball are being introduced at division competitions. Competitions in arm-wrestling, athletics, badminton, billiard, cricket, tug of war, volleyball, bodybuilding, football, weightlifting, basketball, chess, cricket hard ball, hockey, kabaddi, mat wrestling and mud wrestling, table tennis, karate, taekwondo and tent pegging will continue.

Swimming and gymnastics competitions will also be held under education sector games.

Events in general category include naat khwani, qirat, cooking, painting, pet-keeping, photography, poetry, songs, calligraphy, dress design, handicrafts, healthy baby, gardening, drama, short film, and street theatre.

Engineering and IT sector participants will compete in game development, windows phone development and computer software development.

University students will compete in entrepreneurship, cultural, horticulture and technical projects.

In the skills sector, competitions will be held in electrical, electronics and mechanical categories.

A number of competitions were held at Home Economics College for Women in Gulberg on Saturday. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was the chief guest. Various displays of clothing designed by the students and food items were also set up.
