Hit and run: Former village councilor gunned down

Official says family of deceased had not registered FIR, adding police will investigation after they file case.

SWABI: A former village councilor was gunned down by unidentified assailants in his village in Swabi on Saturday evening. Zarif Khan, an official of the Topi police, said at around 6:30pm former councilor of Maini village Ijaz Ahmad was on his way home on a motorcycle when armed attackers shot him and escaped. The official added that nearby residents rushed to the site after the incident and shifted Ahmad to Topi civil hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The official said family members of the deceased had not registered an FIR yet, adding police will launch an investigation after they file a case. “We cannot say with certainty as to who killed him until we begin investigating the case” said Khan.
