Intimidation: House targeted over extortion

Police say according to initial investigation, around 1 kilogramme of high-grade explosives were used in attack.

PESHAWAR: The main gate of a house was destroyed in a low-intensity blast in Danishabad, within the jurisdiction of University Town police station, on Friday morning. Police sources revealed the explosion took place inside the house of Rafiullah, who was constantly receiving threats from extortionists demanding Rs20 million. “Only two days ago, Rafiullah had registered an FIR at the police station stating that extortionists had been demanding money from him, and today his house was targeted with an explosive device,” shared a police official. He added according to initial investigation carried out by bomb disposal squad officials, around one kilogramme of high-grade explosives were used in the attack.
