Disaster averted: BDS officials defuse 10kg bomb outside KWSB office

The device contained around 10 kilogrammes of explosive material.

Bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials managed to defuse a bomb that had been placed in the bushes outside the office of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) in SITE area on Thursday.


According to BDS in-charge, Sabir Durrani, an anonymous caller informed the police about the presence of a suspicious object outside the water utility’s office.

The BDS team immediately reached the site and managed to defuse the bomb. The device contained around 10 kilogrammes of explosive material. The KWSB spokesperson said that the utility had not received any threats lately. The utility’s managing director, however, has ordered to beef up security for the safety of the employees.
