ISLAMABAD: Suspects involved in the firing incidents at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and Tarlai area are still at large. Police are yet to order an inquiry to fix responsibility for the security lapse.

According to sources, the station house officer (SHO) and the duty officer of Koral police station were issued show cause notices but no formal departmental inquiry has been ordered.

However, Koral police was informed about the first incident at Tarlai about 45 minutes late, sources added.

“Had the intimation been made at the earliest, Margalla police could have taken steps to prevent the incident at Pims hospital,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the incident at Pims has risen to two, as one of the wounded succumbed to his injuries and died on Friday night. Muhammad Naeem, another injured, has been declared clinically dead by the doctors.

The bullet he received had pierced his skull. He is being kept alive on a ventilator.
