Three people were killed and at least six others injured in separate incidents in different parts of Islamabad on Wednesday.


In the first incident, violence erupted during a jirga meeting in Dhoke Tawin near Rawat. According to the police, a group of water drillers were attending a jirga to resolve a dispute over drilling equipment, but instead of subsiding, the conflict escalated and the men broke in to an armed fight.

Gul Rehman, 28, was shot dead. He was a resident of Dhoke Tawin and originally from Kurram Agency. Ghaffar Jan, 25, an Afghan who lived in Sood Gangal in Rawalpindi, was killed with a dagger. Three other men, Sawab Khan, Muhammad Jan and Tariq Khan, were injured in the clash and were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. The Sihala police registered a murder case but arrests have yet to be made.

An unidentified man was killed and three others injured after unknown gunmen opened fire outside a general store near Zia Masjid, according to the police. The incident occurred in the Shahzad Town police area.

According to the police, the gunmen were mobile snatchers on a motorbike who opened fire after a victim tried to resist. The incident happened outside Shakrial General Store.

The deceased and the injured — Iqrar Satti,Sanan Zakar and Babar Ali — were shifted to PIMS.
