ISLAMABAD: The construction of a nuclear power plant in Karachi is a significant step by the government to address the issue of power shortage. Instead of making it controversial, the concerns of the citizens should be given consideration and priority. The people should be informed about the measures taken by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) for safety and security of the plant. Pakistan has an impeccable record with regard to safety and security of its nuclear installations. A little more transparency by PAEC will go a long way in addressing peoples’ genuine concerns.
