Three members of Aman Lashkar committee killed in explosion

According to police officials, a road side bomb went off in the Mushtarzai area on the outskirts of Peshawar.

PESHAWAR: Three members of a peace committee (Aman Lashkar) were killed and another critically injured in an explosion that was followed by heavy firing. Police said that militants were involved in the incident.

According to officials, a road-side bomb went off in the Mushtarzai area of Badhaber on the outskirts of Peshawar. The second bomb explosion in less than twelve hours.

Eyewitnesses said that a community police official who went to inspect the bomb site was attacked when a hand grenade was hurled at him.

As his attacker tried to escape, he was intercepted by two other members of the peace committee.

“The two [peace committee members] were gunned down by the militants who managed to take away the gun of the injured police personnel” said locals.

On Sunday, a massive immunisation drive is said to begin in Peshawar. It is believed that drastic security measures will be taken including the deployment of over four thousand police personnel and the jamming of cellular service is also expected in some parts of the city.
