Nazir, who ended the opening round of the professional event at par 72, fired a three under-par 69 yesterday to take top position at the end of the day. The golfer has accumulated 141 from two rounds with two more to follow.
Meanwhile, defending champion Shabbir Iqbal was forced to give up his joint-first place of the first day as he registered 72 in the preceding round to end up second.
Mohammad Munir played a round of one over-par 73 to finish on joint third position with a score of 144 along with Imdad Hussain.
Shafique Masih and Taj Nabi were on joint fifth with 145 followed by Sajjad Khan and Mohammad Ashfaq with an identical total of 146.
Akhtar leads seniors’ event
Akhtar Ali led the senior category of the professional event after a brilliant show of 71 in the second round, accumulating a score of 150.
Ghaffar Ahmed is second with a total of 152 followed by a trio of Abdul Hamid, Mehmood Hussain and Ghani Khan who have a gross card of 153.
