PESHAWAR:

Students of the Centre for Disaster Management and Preparedness (CDMP) studies held a peace walk at the University of Peshawar on Wednesday.

“In a very short time, the centre has become a major institution in South Asia which provides higher education in the field of disaster management,” said CDMP Director Professor Dr Ameer Nawaz Khan, while addressing participants at the event. He added the centre has initiated PhD and one-year diploma courses to prepare experts in the field.

“However, there are some elements that are busy in propagating a negative image of the centre for their interests,” he said in a veiled reference to earlier protests. On Monday, Insaf Student Federation protested against alleged sexual harassment of female students in the university and were said to have ransacked the CDMP building.
