Unnecessary arrests: Court releases pillion riders

KARACHI:
A judicial magistrate of district West, Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, ordered the discharge of 100 men on Tuesday who had been arrested and produced before the court for pillion riding. The judicial magistrate ordered the men to be released under section 63 (discharge of person apprehended) of the Criminal Procedure Code. According to the court officials, following the ban by the provincial government on pillion riding, the police have arrested and produced dozens of people every day before the court which has only resulted in additional work for the courts.
