The 500-strong force will consist of Rangers personnel, Frontier Corps (FC), Pakistani soldiers and around 300 police officers. It will have a maximum reaction time of two to three hours.
With its headquarters in Islamabad, the force will respond to threats throughout the country when it is called in by the police.
Officers in the rapid reaction force will receive training from the army's Special Services Group. They will also be equipped with the latest of weapons and will have access to helicopters as well.

ET had similar story a month or two and nothing happened. Rapid reaction sound great but does anyone really believe that Pakistan has the ability to move 500 soldiers to any place in Pakistan within two hours?
@Jibran: Well stated. This is another half-baked idea. We already have enough forces, but government doesn't give them the required resources. So new forces keep coming up to justify more expenditures. Net result is zero.
@Aamir: Solid steps? Not unless they have included Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Avengers etc in this 500-strong new force for handling terrorism across the entire country.
too late too little after loosing so many innocent lives, we should take lesson from the Americans who lost only 3000 lives in 9/11 & the accused countries upside down, it was their cumulative political will ( unlike us ) and the global strategy which has made USA safe, compared to our country, however, RRF with re-action time of 2 to 3 hrs sounds ridiculous...? when are v going to learn from our mistakes ?
Finally some solid steps
It is a good step but RRF should be based in each province not just restricted to Islamabad.
