DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The house of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Senator Salah Shah Mehsud was targeted by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night near Tank, South Waziristan.

A Gomal police official told The Express Tribune the explosives had been planted adjacent to Mehsud’s house. Apart from slight damage to the building, there were no reports of loss, he added. Senator Salah Shah’s house is located in Jatti, Gomal, near Wana-DI Khan Road in Tank.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack and an FIR has been lodged at the local police station against unidentified militants, shared the official.

Shah is the chairperson of the standing committee on states and frontier regions and a former head of the standing committee on interfaith and religious harmony.

He is also a member of the local aman jirga in Tank.
