“The issue of Gazprom’s participation in the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline was discussed during this visit,” Sechin told reporters during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Turkmenistan.
“Gazprom may participate in this project in any capacity - builder, designer, participant and others,” Sechin said.
The planned pipeline would have initial capacity for 33 billion cubic metres a year and would run nearly 2,000 km (1,250 miles), including 735 km across Afghanistan and another 800 km through Pakistan.
