Commuters heaved a sigh of relief when Bugti tribesmen ended their blockade last night but blocked the highway again shortly afterwards.
While talking to The Express Tribune, Kashmore deputy commissioner Munawar Ali Mahesar revealed that National Assembly opposition leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah held talks with Jamhoori Watan Party president Shahzain Bugti at Kashmore. According to Munawar, Shah assured Bugti that the matter will be taken up by the federal and Balochistan governments and asked for five to six days so that the matter could be resolved. Munawar added that the opposition leader asked Bugti and his tribesmen to stay in the sports ground situated in the Kashmore Irrigation Colony where they will be provided tents and food by the district administration.
Shahzain accepted the offer and promised to end the blockade within an hour, the deputy commissioner told The Express Tribune.
However, his tribesmen blocked the road again only three hours after traffic flow had resumed. According to sources, the Sindh government is being pressured by the federal government over the blockade. According to an official handout issued on Friday, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah ordered the administrations of Kashmore, Jacobabad and Larkana to take all possible measures to provide tents, cooked food and medicines for the Bugti tribesmen.
