The Printing Corporation of Pakistan Press has denied issuing a gazette of Pakistan notification regarding the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council executive committee.
An official of the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (MNHSRC) said the corporation’s Director General Jahanzeb Khan Aurakzai had written a letter to MNA Nasir Khan Khattak and the ministry on January 13 denying that the PCPP had issued a notification.
He wrote, “The PCPP was asked to explain under which rules and regulations had it notified the PMDC executive committee which was not recognised by the MNHSRC. The PCPP denies issuing any such notification. The notification the PMDC is showing is not genuine.”
The letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, further states, “It is stated that Gazette of Pakistan notification in question has not been printed by this press.”
Earlier, the PMDC, had claimed that the executive had been appropriately notified in the official gazette.
“President Masood Hameed Khan and Vice President Syed Awais have been notified in the Gazette of Pakistan. As per gazette notification, Khan and Awais have been elected as president and vice president of the PMDC respectively. A six-member executive committee is also notified.
“These include Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Azam Yousafani, Isra University VC Ghulam Qadir Kazi, Khyber Medical University VC Muhammad Hafizullah, Gandhara University Post Graduate Dental Education Dean Abdus Salam, Bolan Medical College Department of Urology head Saadat Khan and Dr Khurshid Ahmed Nasim a registered dental practitioner in Islamabad. Office bearers of the council will serve their tenure for two to four years,” a statement issued by Hina Shaukat, chief public relations officer of the PMDC had stated.
Health Services Director General Dr Aurakzai, however, had said the ministry had not notified any executive committee of the PMDC.
Talking to The Express Tribune, PMDC Registrar Dr Raja Amjad Mahmood on Saturday said the PCPP had issued the notification and it was genuine.
“I have receipts for the fee paid to the PCPP and they issued the notification. The fee was paid on December 27 and the notification was issued on January 6, 2014,” he said.
