KRL take top spot in PPFL

Kaleemullah helps defending champions beat PAF 1-0.

KRL replaced KESC on the top position in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) as they defeated PAF 1-0 at the Model Town Ground in Lahore on Saturday.


The defending champions dominated the match from the beginning, with their key striker Kaleemullah scoring the winner in the 35th minute. PAF, who remained at fourth spot in the league with 47 points, failed to equalise.

PAF manager Arshad Khan said he is hopeful of finishing the league among the top three teams, with the team having two more matches to play.

On the other hand KRL peaked in the league with their win, the defending champions won their 18th match, having drawn five and lost only three so far. KRL have four more matches left to play.

Both KRL and KESC now have 59 points, with KRL leading on goal difference – 40 as compared to KESC’s 25. KRL have scored 48 and conceded only eight this season.
