A khasadar official was injured when a bomb planted by unidentified militants was detonated in Landikotal, Khyber Agency on Friday.
An official of the political administration, Amjid Shinwari, said the explosion occurred near the back entrance of Government Degree College for Boys, Landikotal at around 8am. Shinwari said the mule track where the IED was detonated is used by Frontier Corps officials to supply rations for troops stationed at remote mountainous check posts.
He explained that the mules were going back after having been loaded with canisters of water when the explosion occurred. A khasadar official, Shan Khel, was severely injured and was rushed to Landikotal Agency Headquarters Hospital. A power supply line was also destroyed due to the impact, after which security officials, along with khasadar forces, launched a search operation in which seven suspects were arrested.
On January 18, an IED exploded near the same track, however, no loss was reported in the incident.
