There are reports that almost two years ago, this draft proposed by the three rich cricket boards was discussed in an ICC meeting attended by the PCB chairman and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Subhan Ahmed for restructuring of the ICC, with India using its financial powers in tandem with Australia and England in a bid to acquire control of the ICC through veto powers, giving these countries the power to censure any member country on any ground, even if such a move is opposed by majority of other countries. However the Pakistani delegation chose not to alert the patron or the PCB board members and chose to be subservient to India and accepted the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s hegemony. Thereafter, in the last ICC Executive Board meeting attended by Chairman Najam Sethi and the COO, the issue was discussed again, but the patron was still not informed about this proposed plan and its dangers. Whatever the goals of our foreign office vis-a-vis cricket diplomacy, the fact remains that if India were to reciprocate and cooperate with Pakistan, the ban on holding international matches on Pakistani soil could have been removed by now, because an almost similar or even worse security crisis exists in Bangladesh and earlier was present in Sri Lanka, too, during the days of the Tamil-backed insurgency in that country.
Political appointments in the PCB have had an adverse impact on not just the board, but also our domestic cricket structure. In addition, the PCB has also been playing a subservient role to the BCCI on many occasions to its own detriment, with no reciprocal gestures of goodwill.
The patron of the PCB needs to take note of dangers facing Pakistan cricket and use his powers to appoint men of integrity and international stature, who are well versed in ICC affairs, to head the PCB. As it is, following the collapse of our domestic cricket structure, there exist neither genuine zonal boards, nor clubs owning playing fields and teams, which could claim voting rights to select the PCB head. It is a fallacy to hand over the PCB to former cricketers, even if it is through the election process, without putting preconditions that they must have minimal education qualifications with administrative experience in an organisation of repute.

India is confusing sports with politics! India shouldn't live out it's UN security council fantasies at the ICC. Instead of trying to ruin cricket the BCCI should improve their team. Last I heard the Indian team was getting their behinds handed to them by New Zeland. When was the last time India won a foreign tour? BCCI, only has money but commands little respect.
Hijacking a sport isn't a sign of power, it is one of arrogance. The only loser in this scenario is the sport itself.
Old Saying : He who Pays the Piper Calls the Tune . Cheers
This marks the 'beginning of the end' for cricket. Thanks to the greed and crave for power and money by Indian corrupt leaders. Money has destroyed Cricket.
What has happened to cricket, once famous for being game of gentlemen, played by gentlemen with character and sportsmanship, now in hands of betting mafia dons, whose sole objective is greed. If ICC is dominated by rich nations, cricket will suffer, just like justice and Hunan rights have been trampled by permanent members of SC
It seems PCB has become a victim of political interference with incompetent or corrupt mediocrity dominating its corridors, The way things are going with England, Australia and India getting Veto Powers, the Neutral Venues are likely to be cancelled and Pakistan will be denied hosting its home series at UAE, and only confined to play as a visting team. PCB will be financially deprived of revenues, while our cricketers denied exposure to international competitive matches.Criminal silence of PCB is unpardonable.
Was PCB under Zaka Ashraf previous tenure sleeping and same goes for Sethi and this Subhan guy. Time for Patron to intervene. WAKE UP PATRON
Without a doubt all these changes look very unfair but if we look at how global sports bodies are governed, it is lopsided. Look at F1 motor sport, it is a cabal where rules are made to favour just one or two teams. This is a big bad world we live in and today Economic might calls the shots, in old days it was Guns and Swords. If Pakistan continues its disastrous efforts to revisit the seventh century, the gap between it and other nations will only grow. There will be no time to think of sports either.
@Hope!:
Yes and its projected that 2028 India will be worlds third largest economy after US and China. This research has been done by PWC
Lets say its a partial thank you note from India for Kashmir, Mumbai, Khandahar, Dawood, Khalistan, etc.
@Pakistani: Just wait for few more years and see.
i m not a that fan of India but i hav to say that In 2000s...India has nothing! & Now they entered in top ten economies, G20,G4,BRICs,put miilions of poor out of poverty 2nd fastest after china, bid for UN permanent member, next they want to rule on cricket world & i m sure they are going to rule.. ......This shows how a country can change its face just in a decade... we should learn from them or from China& try to accept the truth if we succed in it we will be next Japan or South korea in Asia just in next decade!
BCCI actually alone generates its money equal to total fiscal budget of pakistan in an year..weather u like it or not..this fact..and ET should publish it...might is always right..for eg...america...
