Speaking at the occasion, Shaban Khalid, ICCI chief, appreciated MoST’s support and hoped that the establishment of the centre will help in promoting entrepreneurship among youth and skills development in the under-privileged class.

Only with joint efforts of the industries and identification of industry problems, coupled with relevant research for onward development of pilot models, will help transform these into scalable and commercially viable solutions, said Khalid. “Such homegrown and indigenous solutions can put our industry on sustainable path of development,” added the ICCI president.

Dr Syed Shahid Hussain, MoST advisor, said the body has set up a commercialisation cell to link the industry with research and development (RnD) organisations and academia in order to carry out demand driven activities, resolve industrial problems and indigenise technologies and products. He stressed on the need of continuous working relationship between ICCI and MoST for strengthening the industry through RnD activities and for manufacturing value-added industrial products.
