KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) yesterday gave an in-house farewell to the team’s outgoing head coach Dav Whatmore and fielding coach Julien Fountain at its headquarters in Lahore.

Top officials of the board including Chairman Zaka Ashraf, Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed and Director General Javed Miandad besides others officials were present.

“It was a difficult time for Pakistan cricket,” said Ashraf in a statement released by the PCB. “There have been no home series; still, the performance of the team mostly reflected an upward curve.

“Both Dav and Julien definitely made a difference,” he added. Whatmore and Fountain expressed their gratitude to the PCB and Pakistan’s fans.

“I am really happy to be leaving on a victorious note,” said Whatmore. “This [Sharjah win] was definitely a high point in my coaching career. With Pakistan in the last two years, we won big quite a few times.I hope to return here in one capacity or another sooner than later.” Meanwhile, Fountain noted that there was discernible improvement in Pakistan’s fielding.
