Musharraf saga: Medical board completes health assessment report

The sealed report will be submitted to the special court tomorrow.

ISLAMABAD: The medical board – formed to review former president Pervez Musharraf’s health condition – has completed its assessment report, Express News reported on Thursday.

Musharraf has been skipping court hearings citing security and health issues and the special court on January 16 ordered the formation of a medical board to review his health condition.

The sealed report will be submitted to the court tomorrow and the special bench will issue appropriate order in the light of the information.

Musharraf was accused of treason under Article 6 for suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of the superior courts. The 70-year-old had fallen ill and taken to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi on January 2 as he was being transported under heavy guard to the court.

Lawyers representing the former military ruler have been requesting for Musharraf’s treatment abroad and the special court will decide – with the help of the medical report – if he should be allowed to leave the country or not.

Come on folks, do you really believe it's because of better treatment that he wants to go abroad. As far as health conditions are concerned, AFIC is one of the best hospitals in the world. Citing others for going abroad for treatment in as lame an accuse as it possibly can be. Everybody else was expected to come back and this COWARD won't. The only time in my life, when I felt like appreciating Bilawal was regarding his spot-on comments about this coward commando ...

Biased article trying to make out Musharraf has deliberately avoided court appearance, Musharraf's opponents ruling pmln have admitted he fell ill,still anti Musharraf journalist's come up with rubbish and don't even bother questioning the biased judges of the special court, set up of the special court by the corrupt ex chief Justice and pmln. @Ajab khan Baloch:Do you ever question all the corrupt politicians and their families with ill gotten wealth who travel abroad for treatment, one leader of Pakistan who has no corruption to his name ,under whom Pakistan prospered,sheer illogical cheek.

It states: Musharraf has been skipping court hearings citing security and health issues: It should say Musharraf was not able to go to the court on account of health issues and security .Now see what is happening to the security of country. Three of your own people are killed Alhamdolillah Musharraf was not hurt in the potential bomb attacks. Then the health reasons The government accepts that he was sick. It is up to Musharraf to decide where he wants the treatment. Pakistan or abroad ?? It is nobody's else's business Thank you

There are some cant even afford a treatment in Pakistan. If Gen saab can afford to go abroad who are we to criticize. Didnt Nawaz Sharif go to London for his treatment, didnt zardari go to uae for his treatment. Why not Musharraf?

Pakistani Patriot | 10 years ago | Reply There are hundreds of Pakistani government officials who go abroad for medical treatment every year, so Musharraf leaving for the same is no different. Moreover, his personal doctor for the same heart condition is in America and Musharraf has a right to be seen by his doctor if he wishes and will pay for it from his own pocket. It is bogus to equate medical treatment of Musharraf to that of a common man. Does a common man have access to go to AFIC? Did Zardari not go to Dubai for medical reasons? Those calling him coward are just after his blood and are simply frustrated that is not happening. Keep dreaming folks, as reality is different than what you want.

hamza khan | 10 years ago | Reply @Ajab Khan Baloch: you're assuming that he will go abroad, whereas this assertion has only been made in the media. his cardiologist has recommended that he go abroad, but that does not mean that he definititely will. as far as why, God has given him the resources to do so and if perhaps had given the same resources to the other 200 million they too would have desired treatment abroad rather than our pathetic hospitals. every man desires health. to single him out for that is ludicrous.

Why does he (can he) go abroad for treatment,whereas 200 Million get treatment in Pakistan. What is so serious about his health?; is it his toothache or minor elevated cholesterol level?. Coward.......
