Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said culture was in danger and expeditious acts were needed to protect it.
“The Sindh Festival will make us aware of our existence,’ he said as he appeared on television screens in an advertising campaign on Tuesday.
Bilawal announced promulgating a cultural emergency to protect Sindh’s culture. He said the heritage was under threat and he was announcing the festival to protect it.
“I am reaching out to you to seek your help,” he said.
He said the festival would start from the first week of February and its celebrations would be held across Sindh including at thousands of years old archeological sites at Mohenjo-Daro and Makli.
Bilawal said the festival would be infused in the spirit of celebration.
“This will be the beginning of our annual cultural festivities. This is the sign of our progress. This is the first step towards the protection of our cultural centres,” he added.

Hahahaha what culture? For your kind information pakistan has no culture at all, what we have is "Indian Imported Culture" beleive it or not..
Hey, at least he had the decency to not put Mama and Papa in the background.
Being a Karachiite, I am aware of the deteriorating law and order situation in city. Instead of providing security to people of Sindh, this person is talking about 'cultural emergency'. Maybe he has learned something from out former President??? I mean his looks on the television indicates that he is preparing to take over the government in the next few days... i mean come on man seriously....
promoting rich heritages and poor bellies - ppp
@Concerned: Last time i checked, Karachi is part of Sindh. How about you and rest your likes try to integrate into Sindh.
I'm not Sindhi. I'm Punjabi and am still proud of Sindhi culture as much i am proud of Punjabi culture. our history doesn't start from Mohammed Bin Qasim's invasion of Sindh. It goes long back.
do cultures need festivals for their relevancy? I dont think so. But yeah a foreign or alienated politician needs to connect through festival. he is doing both connecting through festival and invoking the sindhi vote bank. I wish that there would be a time, when all people of SINDH- each and everyone- ask them to open real school-not ghost school, open functional hospital-not hospital on paper, provide clean drinking water- not the flood water- rooti-kapra-makan.
Dear Lord is Balawar really serious? Is this the reason he does not live in Pakistan? What Sindhi culture is he talking about? Putting a cap on your head is not Sindhi culture. Can Balawar read & write Urdu & Sindhi? Can he actually walk any street of Pakistan with his head held up high? Does he not feel ashamed of how his parents raped Pakistan's economy? Poor Balawar is nothing more than another greedy opportunities like his parents. Most Pakistani people have made more sacrifices trying to salvage Pakistan from Thugs & Leaders. Balawar why don't you shut you mouth & go way to Dubai. I hope one day all Pakistanies take there country back from thugs.
I like Bilawal as the Ajrak Superman!
@ Concerned: Karachi is part of Sindh. There is this much alienation between it and the rest of sindh, it is a shock.
superman logo and he is talking about preserving cultureual values :-)
Superman copy & patent right team just took off from Kansas airport. There will be in Pak for two weeks for bringing infringement right lawsuit on PPP upon unauthorized use of there Diamond logo and the cost related to the defamation of their image worth billions of dollar in show business. Good Luck Billo!
@Concerned: This is what u think u have no culture, But You are living in Sindh From 65 Years. Still You don't think yourself as Sindhi??? 3 Generations Has been passed. Still You are not mingling yourself as Sindhi??? Now Your Culture and Everything Is The Place Where U Live! Like In Punjab, All the Refugees Brother From India, Now Call themselves as Punjabi, Not Mahajir At all. We all are brothers, we all are pakistanies !
I live in Karachi, I have nothing to do with Sindh Heritage/ culture. Who will celebrate my culture? Do I need a seperate province?
funny to see superman logo for sindh festival. Is Superman Sindhi? or is Sindh in Kansas?
What a waste. All just a political stunt on govt money, to atleast get the sindhi vote bank, which they were at a risk of losing.
@UrduSindhi - MPAs and the Sindh Govt are there to serve the people. Its my tax money they are using for a political stunt. Its not an individuals job to sell his laptop and give to the poor. It is the Govt's job to ensure public health, education and infrastructure are provided to everyone. Sindh govt wont do anything in interior sindh to help the poor sindhi but more then happy to waste money on a party.
We don't need an emergency, all we need here are more billos...
Bilawal is in and Imran is out. Everyone I have talked and met is very impressed. Bilawal has proved that he is more visionary and brave than Imran Khan. I wish Imran Khan had delivered this speech.
This dude has a bright future as a comedian....
looks like the host of some kid's show on cartoon network
Trying to introduce himself all around the sindh as a next ruler.coz such type of festival give him a platform for campaigning.
'I will use tax payers money for self promotion. Thank you'.. bilawal
@Jaffer: superman's logo is duly justified as it matches their super corruption in sindh
Amazing how media is making Mr. Son of Zardari a leader
Saving the culture or trying to connect / introduce himself to ethnic vote bank...
buhahahhah he look's like a 3 idoit "Chatur 'Silencer'"
If you are serious in changing the life of common man for the better then stop coming from the top,as if you had already gone through all the hardships of the ordinary person of this country,of which you intend to be the future leader. Also,be it known to you that there are three other provinces too other than Sindh, which comprise Pakistan and those living in provinces other than Sindh have also made equal sacrifices,if not more,to create this land-of-the-deprived of its abundance
Drama acting and practicing for becoming and addressing the nation like PM...........
Does he think he is the prime minister already? Look at the background, the sherwani, the protrait, the flag.
he is already preparing himself to be the next PM. look at the whole studio structure. pathetic.
Very relevant and important points highlighted
think of basic rights of people of sindh.... health education, infrastructure all is at worst in sindh and they are celebrating this ;)
Some people need to take a chill pill and realize promotion of culture is something very very important. Sindh festival would generate employment and help promote the rich Sindhi heritage and culture. The people who would habitually demand "Oh, why not spend this money on the poor!?!" should perhaps put their money where their mouth is consider giving the money they spend on their expensive fancy personal computer/gadgets etc. and monthly Internet connection to the poor. Why not give your computer to government public school and pay for monthly Internet access so that lots of underprivileged children from a nearby poor neighbourhood could benefit? No, we wouldn't do that because let's face it we have different priorities in life and conspicuous consumption triumphs altruism any day. Same is the case with states. Yes provision of education, clampdown on corruption etc. are important too but so too are promotion of culture and Sindh festival.
Seriously i thought that it was some kind of funny stuff...the dressing ..the speech...
can see the main reason behind illiteracy and ignorant nation...
Bilawal is doing/saying all the right things lately. Lets just hope he does what he says. He will earn respect from the masses.
Impressive stuff.
I don't like Bilawal or the PPP, but I really love this. We are losing our culture. This should extend to other cultures in Pakistan aside from Sindhi.
A paralyzed Sindh cannot prosper with rich heritage. Provide security to polio workers first.
I find it funny that they use the Superman logo in adverts about the Sindh Festival. Couldn't they find a relevant image from the Sindhi culture? It speaks volumes about how in danger our culture really is...
Drama......
A nation that does not educate its' young and keep the people shackled in the chains of ignorance deserve to be ruled with imbecile leaders who are hoisted on them by inheritance.
