GUJRANWALA: The provincial government has approved Rs9.4 billion to repair the sewerage system in 64 union councils of Gujranwala, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Deputy Managing Director Khalid Bashir Butt said on Tuesday. He said the sewerage lines in the city were insufficient. “Wastewater accumulates in streets during the rainy season and causes difficulty for commuters,” he said. Butt said lawmakers from Gujranwala had already sent their recommendations to the provincial government to dispatch the funds. He said the Wasa had divided the city into 12 divisions. He said the sewage systems had been upgraded at Dhallay, Church, Wahdat Colony, Peoples Colony, Mian Sansi Road, Sheikhupura Road, Kacha Fatumand, Jagnah, Mughal Chowk, Khokharke, Bakhtaywala, Pasrur Road, Nowshera Road, Shaheenabad, Baghbanpura, Hafizabad Road, Satellite Town, Civil Lines and Model Town.
