Pir Pagara confirmed to be meeting Nawaz Sharif

It has been learnt that PML-F leader Pir Pagara will be holding a meeting with PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif at Raiwind.

The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Pir Pagara will be holding a meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif, it has been learnt.

The date and time of the meeting will be announced after Nawaz Sharif's return from London. Sources say the proposal for the meeting was given by Pir Pagara himself. The meeting will be held in Raiwind.

Earlier this month Pagara said he will go to Lahore to invite Nawaz Sharif to the merger of all the factions of Pakistan Muslim League. Pagara had also said that even though the PML-N Chief has been “arrogant” in the past, he will still be extended an invitation to join the party.

Earlier this month, the Awami Muslim League President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the final phase of unifying all Muslim Leagues, would be initiated soon.

He was referring to the merger last month of two factions of the Pakistan Muslim League, one led by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein and the other led by Pir Pagara under the banner of the All Pakistan Muslim League, which is incidentally also the name of former president Pervez Musharraf’s recently launched party. The unified entity had installed Pir Sahib Pagara in the role of leader.

Sources point out that the confirmation of the meeting does not mean that the PML-N has already agreed to join the Pagara's party.

Ehsan Haq | 14 years ago | Reply Why should NS & Co merge or even make alliance with them? Any huge figure multiplied with zero would itself become zero. Its not even imaginable that narrow-minded and short-sighted NS will even sit with Ijaz, Hamayun or Chaudharies of Gujrat. And this so-called unification of several 'tanga parties' is destined to break-up anyway.

Sultan Ahmed. | 14 years ago | Reply He will never see him, he is head of the party, which have popularity among the people his party have majority in the provincial assembly and power share in the center, and some other parts of the country, why he can submit his political power to them to whom he understand, traitors.

He has played a major role in the country's politics but throwing them overboard and merging with another party, the odds are stacked against him. This will dilute and reduce him to a non-entity status like attending a seminar at a forum discussion and coming away with a certificate; none the wiser. And he is no mind of doing that. The pir of the APML should forget avbout it unless a wizard of Oz comes into the political coliseum and waves a magic wand. Salams and best wiahes.

NQ | 14 years ago | Reply I believe PML (N) should never look for stakes like mergers with other parties. They should strive for their own identity with more efforts and strong team of capable people. They should study Obama's campaign, Naheed Nenshi (Mayor - City of Calgary), Saeed Warsi (Chair person - Conservative Party) and similar shining stars who change the world with their vision and communication skills. He should never look Jageer Dars like Pir Pagaraha or so. They even don't know new technology (Information technology, and Public Private Partnership projects etc). What can they give to country and what can they think for country. They would work through the same old beaurocrats who unfortunately don't know more than corruption. Saying that PML (N) should learn to survive independently like PPP and look for the bright future of Pakistan. They also need to get rid of their own Jagir dars and old nawabs and should bring forward educated and skilled people from abroad to contribute to change the existing paralysed system. My best wishes for Pakistan and we love it and its people.

Badar | 14 years ago | Reply No doubt the peroformance of present governmnet has been worst compared with all the past governments, but for how long our so called leaders will keep playing this dirty musical chair game. My question is why the opposition parties don't protest in and outside the house. In my openion if this merger would happen It won't last longer. Pir Sain Pagara is trying to facilitate the opposition parties to go for another round of musical chair. It won't work.

Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply It is always good that political people should meet each other from time to time, but I do not foresee that Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif is going to merge his PML(N) in APML headed by Pir Sain Pagara. The next government in the country is of PML(N) and if Mian Nawaz Sharif will merge his political party, he will loose the credibility in the masses which he has made in the last decade. The past precedent is no faction of any Muslim League has ever been able to win the national elections with two-third majority, except PML(N). So why would Mian Nawaz Sharif will join APML headed by Pir Sain Pagara?
