Investigation starts: ASWJ leader escapes attack

Maulana Zareen Shah was on his way home after offering Fajr prayers when armed motorcyclists fired on him.

KARACHI: A local leader of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) escaped a targeted attack in Landhi on Tuesday. Maulana Zareen Shah was on his way home after offering Fajr prayers at a nearby mosque when armed motorcyclists opened fire at him in Sector F-2, Labour Colony. Maulana Shah was unhurt in the attack but the culprits managed to flee from the scene. An ASWJ spokesperson condemned the incident and demanded law enforcers arrest the culprits. He added that Maulana Shah is also the media coordinator of Maulana Aurangzaib Farooqui for the PS-128 constituency. Meanwhile, Landhi police officials have yet to register the case.
