The sequel to Superman film Man of Steel was revealed at the Comic-Con convention last July by director Zack Snyder.

It looks like we won’t be seeing the dreamy Henry Cavill reprise Superman, or the controversial choice of Ben Affleck as Batman playing out, anytime soon. Warner Bros. has pushed back the release date of the still untitled film that will bring together superheroes Superman and Batman, delaying it by almost a year to May 2016, the studio said.

The sequel to last year’s hit Superman film Man of Steel was revealed at the Comic-Con convention last July by director Zack Snyder, who said the two DC Comics’ caped crusaders will face off against each other. Man of Steel, starring British actor Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, premiered in June 2013 and grossed $668 million worldwide. In the North American market, it was the fourth-biggest film of 2013, with ticket sales of $291 million. Actor-director Ben Affleck stirred up quite the uproar when chosen as the next Batman. Most fans were expecting Christian Bale to reprise his role as the savior of Gotham City for this film. This Warner Bros. production will not only see the two superheroes facing off for the first time, but is also the first time both actors will be sharing the screen. We can’t wait for what’s in store.
