Terror bid thwarted: Bomb defused outside head constable’s house

A search operation was launched in the area, however, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.

A bomb planted outside the house of a police official was defused by Bannu Cantonment police on Friday morning.


A police official said they were informed by residents of Shehbaz Shah Shaikhan area about a suspicious canister placed outside the house of Head Constable Rehmat Ali. Police subsequently reached the site along with the BDS and defused the bomb, which weighed two kilogrammes.


A search operation was launched in the area, however, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.


Meanwhile, three rockets fired from an undisclosed location landed on the bank of Tochi River in Bannu around midnight on Thursday.


No loss was reported in the incident as the rockets landed away from the residential area, said Hawaid police official Sher Baz Khan. He suspects militants fired rockets to target a government installation, but missed the target.
