
“Today, we are in a knowledge-based economy,” the premier said, addressing students at the 12th annual convocation of Government College University, one of the oldest educational institutions in the country.
Nawaz joked that the vice chancellor of the university had given him the degree but also asked for nine billion rupees in donation.
"I don't know if I am being given the degree or if I am buying it," he said laughing.
"I wish that I could be a student at this university again," the premier stated, reminiscing about his time at GCU.
Nawaz also spoke about the Youth Loan Business Scheme, adding that he felt it was unfortunate that the youth had not been given such opportunities before.
"The scheme gives people like you more choices for your future," the premier said, addressing the students in the audience.
After you graduate, you do not have to work for someone else, Nawaz stated, adding that they could go to a bank and get a loan and start up their own businesses instead.
