ISLAMABAD:

In his first directives upon assuming office on Wednesday, newly reinstated Chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chaudhry Rashid Ahmad transferred 14 of the authority’s officials and cancelled the meeting of its board scheduled for today (Thursday).

Sources in Pemra said the reinstated chief spent the day discussing the situation with his close aides and sending out transfer and demotion orders for certain officials. Chaudhry Rashid Ahmad was unavailable for comments despite repeated attempts by Daily Express.

The sacking of Chaudhry Rashid by the government and his reinstatement by the court has created much confusion among Pemra officials, the sources said. The transfers and demotions on Wednesday have added to the air of uncertainty in the Pemra head office, they added.

Pemra sources said that Director General Administration and Human Resources Dr Mukhtar Ahmad has been transferred from Islamabad to Peshawar as GM complaints.

Khan | 10 years ago | Reply Smart man, trying to take charge. The NADRA Chairman failed to do this and vested elements in NADRA undermined his authority by taking direct orders from Government.
