KARACHI: The federal finance minister, Ishaque Dar, reached Karachi on Wednesday and met the Rangers director general and the Sindh governor, amid speculations of massive reshuffling in the provincial police department. Sources privy to the development said the reports regarding the possible transfer of additional IG Shahid Hayat and other police officers was merely a pressure tactic used by the Sindh government to acquire the promised budget from the federal government. “The federal government had promised Rs10 billion for the ongoing targeted operation,” reported a senior official of the home department. On Wednesday, the federal finance minister has assured that the first installment of Rs3.7 billion would be released soon.
